On Thursday, Nollywood actors and filmmakers gathered for a service of songs and prayer in memory of the late actress and producer Allwell Ademola.
Videos circulated online reportedly had Afeez Abiodun, Rotimi Salami, and Kunle Afod, among other industry colleagues, participating in the wrap prayer.
As friends and coworkers mourned the late director, the event was filled with prayers, tears, tributes, and times of introspection.
One of Ademola’s closest business associates, Rotimi Salami, spoke to those in attendance.
He implored everyone to keep praying for her soul and asked for forgiveness on her behalf.
Additionally, he urged coworkers to stick together and protect the contributions and influence she made to Nollywood.
The service was attended by numerous prominent members of the film industry.
Odunlade Adekola, Saheed Balogun, Bolaji Amusan, Abiola Adebayo, Iyabo Ojo, Fausat Balogun, Eniola Ajao, and Fathia Balogun were among those seen.
Ademola’s image was put on special white T-shirts worn by the majority of participants.
The Service of Songs was followed by preparations for a candlelight procession, according to burial arrangements made public by the family.
Later in the evening, an Artistes’ Night was planned, with closing statements anticipated around 11 p.m.
The Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos State, will host the funeral on Friday.
Ademola had a heart attack at home and died on December 27.
