Chiamaka Nnadozie Warns Of Tough Zambia Test As Super Falcons Chase WAFCON 2026 Glory

Nigeria’s Group C at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is extremely tough, according to Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has warned that a repeat with Zambia will be difficult as the reigning champions aim for another continental crown.

In an interview with Super Falcons Show, Nnadozie recognized the caliber of the Zambian team and anticipated a more formidable opponent than in their last encounter.

“It won’t be easy to have Zambia in our group for the 2026 WAFCON,” she stated. “We defeated them in the last WAFCON, but it wasn’t an easy victory. They will undoubtedly want to return and engage in combat. Indeed, Zambia is a wonderful country.

The Paris FC goalie affirmed that the Super Falcons are prepared to play at the top level and commended the depth and caliber of the Nigerian team.

“They have excellent players on their team. However, our team also has talented players. We are youthful, gifted, energetic, nimble, and prepared for battle,” she continued.

Nnadozie emphasized the importance of discipline, concentration, and adherence to the team’s tactical strategy for Nigeria’s prospects of winning the title again.

“Retaining the trophy won’t be simple, but there are options. “No country would want to watch us win the trophy once more,” she remarked. “We’ll go there, maintain focus, work hard, train hard, maintain discipline, and continue to believe in mission ten.”

Nnadozie, who was recently named Africa’s Best Goalkeeper for the third year in a straight, gave appreciation to her coaches and colleagues for her accomplishments.

“It means a lot to me to be awarded the greatest goalkeeper in Africa for the third consecutive year. Without my coaches and teammates, I am nothing,” she said.

The 23-year-old acknowledged that the stakes are higher than ever because WAFCON 2026 doubles as a qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“Compared to the last edition, this one is going to be more difficult. We are considering today, tomorrow, and the upcoming game,” she stated.

Nnadozie said that her ability to remain composed under pressure has grown to be one of her greatest assets.

She clarified, “I remain calm when others are panicking, and the more calm I am, the clearer I see and think, the faster I play, and the better my reflexes are.”
