The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has asked corps members to respect local customs, remain committed to their duties, and significantly contribute to Nigeria’s socioeconomic growth.
Nafiu provided the advice while addressing the 2026 Batch “A” Stream One corps members at the NYSC orientation camps in Ogun and Oyo states, according to a statement shared on the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters 𝕏 account on Saturday.
He commended the corps members for answering the call to serve their country and advised them to approach their service year with discipline, creativity, and a strong sense of duty.
He also underlined the importance of responsible personal money management, emphasizing that sound financial habits might be helpful both during and after the service year.
Additionally, the head of NYSC urged participants to continue acting honorably in their host communities and places of employment.When you are given your main task, follow their policies, arrive on time, be creative, and familiarize yourself with the company’s culture,” Nafiu counseled.
975 of the 3,341 corps members who registered at the Ogun State orientation camp were first sent to Lagos State, according to NYSC Coordinator Mrs. Olayinka Nasamu.
She praised their actions, pointing out that “all camp officials are also performing their duties diligently with high sense of synergy” and that they had “conducted themselves responsibly and adapted to the regimented camp life.”
The NYSC Coordinator in Oyo State, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, reports that 3,068 corps members have completed the registration process. He emphasized that attendees had shown great character, participated completely in camp activities, and showed a commitment to promote many aspects of national development.
The NYSC had already announced that the 2026 Batch “A” Stream I Orientation Course would start on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at all 37 orientation sites across the country.Camp registration will be open to all Corps members from Wednesday, January 21 until Friday, January 23 at midnight,” he said.
