Felix Morka, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) National Publicity Secretary, has addressed rumors that Vice President Kashim Shettima would be removed as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate in 2027.
Morka reportedly said that Tinubu’s political trajectory as Lagos State’s governor rendered Shettima’s potential replacement speculative during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday.
Morka clarified that the party’s support for President Tinubu’s second term also extends to the vice president.
“When the time comes, the position of Vice President is liable to conversations at the party level for decisions as to who becomes Vice President,” he stated.
Because the President is the one who is on the ballot, I believe that when they support the President, they also support the current Vice President, regardless of whether his name is on the ballot.
Since it’s a shared ticket, it’s difficult to just presume and state such. As governor, the president has already been recognized and given the chance to replace his deputies.
Therefore, it doesn’t deviate from current trends and his previous actions. However, this is precisely the reason that everything is highly hypothetical.
